Whether you’re furnishing a reading corner, refreshing your dining room or planning a complete renovation, discover how UMAGE can help you create a cohesive home.
What makes UMAGE design distinctive?
UMAGE takes its name from a Danish word meaning “making an effort”. That idea runs through the brand’s approach to materials, functionality and design: creating pieces that earn their place in your home through both their appearance and usefulness.
For anyone drawn to Scandi furniture and Scandi lighting, UMAGE offers a balance of simplicity and personality. Sculptural shapes, tactile finishes and considered proportions give its collections interest without overwhelming a room.
It’s a style that works beyond a purely Scandinavian interior. Try a contemporary pendant in a traditional kitchen, introduce an upholstered chair to a minimalist living room, or combine natural textures with painted cabinetry for a softer, more relaxed scheme.
UMAGE lighting: from sculptural pendants to textured shades
Lighting influences how a room looks and how it feels to spend time there. The right fitting can define a dining area, soften a bedroom or bring focus to a favourite corner.
Our UMAGE lighting collection includes designs that suit different approaches to decorating, from restrained contemporary forms to more expressive statement pieces.
Asteria: a clean-lined approach to Scandi lighting
The UMAGE Asteria pendant has a slim, minimal profile that makes it an appealing choice for contemporary interiors. Its pared-back shape offers a way to introduce Danish design without adding unnecessary visual clutter.
Consider an Asteria pendant above a dining table, or explore the smaller Asteria Mini when planning lighting over a breakfast bar. Choose the size and arrangement around the furniture below, rather than the ceiling space alone. Both designs are listed in the Amos collection.
Eos: texture with a softer silhouette
For a different expression of Scandi style lighting, explore the UMAGE Eos feather shade. Its feathered surface creates a distinctive decorative texture, bringing a softer visual contrast to timber, glass and metal.
We suggest using Eos as a focal point in a bedroom or living room, balancing its expressive shape with simpler furniture and accessories. Check the individual listing carefully when ordering: a shade and a complete light fitting are different products, and the required suspension or base depends on the configuration.
UMAGE furniture: Danish design for everyday living
A successful room needs more than a beautiful ceiling light. Furniture provides the places to sit, store and gather, helping turn a decorating scheme into a home.
Our UMAGE furniture collection includes armchairs, dining chairs, coffee tables, console tables, side tables and storage designs. These offer several ways to introduce Scandi furniture into your home, from a single accent piece to a coordinated room scheme.
The Reader armchair: create a considered reading corner
The UMAGE The Reader armchair is one of the furniture designs available through Amos.
For a welcoming reading corner, we suggest pairing it with a side table and a separate reading light. Add a rug to define the area and choose upholstery that connects with the room’s existing colours. This creates a useful space within a larger living room without needing to redesign the whole interior.
Audacious: make storage part of the scheme
The UMAGE Audacious cabinet offers another starting point for incorporating Danish furniture into your home.
Think about storage early in your decorating plans. A cabinet can anchor a living-room wall or help define a dining area, while the space above it provides an opportunity for artwork, a mirror or carefully chosen lighting.
How to combine Scandi furniture and lighting
You don’t need every piece to match. Instead, repeat a few materials and colours to connect the room.
For a balanced scheme:
- Start with one focal point. Choose a statement pendant, armchair or cabinet, then let the surrounding pieces support it.
- Mix textures. Combine smooth metal or glass with upholstery, timber and woven accessories.
- Layer your lighting. Plan general illumination alongside lights for reading, working and atmosphere.
- Check proportions. Consider pendant diameter, furniture dimensions and available walkways before ordering.
- Introduce contrast. Dark accents can give definition to pale walls and natural finishes.
This approach keeps a Scandinavian-inspired room warm, personal and practical.
