The Convenience of Equipping Your Lamps with a 5-Amp Plug
Traditionally, homes were always wired with 5-amp sockets. These sockets were intended to be used as a lighting circuit only and provided a control dedicated floor and table lamps. These are connected via a standard wall switch. If possible, it is beneficial if your new home could wired with 5-amp sockets as they are a valuable feature when setting the perfect mood for a room.
These ‘old fashioned’ round pin sockets also allows multiple lamps to be connected to a single lighting switch. So when you control your lamps through a standard switch (or even a dimmer), the connected lamps can be set to the ideal lighting level. In addition to installing the correct socket, you will also need to change the lamps plug from a 13amp square pin to a smaller 5-amp plug. You can get these online or at any good DIY store. This has the convenience of turning all the lamps on together, this is especially helpful if the mood of the room has been set by lamps initially.
