Modern stone and wood house on hill with large windows at dusk and clear blue sky

Coastal Home | Cornwall

Architect: Woodford Architecture + Interiors

Building Contractors: W.M. Construction

Completed: 2020

Replacing a former farmhouse, this contemporary stone and timber-faced home nestles into the Cornish coastline

Sitting sympathetically in its surroundings, it opens into visually exciting internal spaces where changing volumes, textures and views combine to create a dramatic yet comfortable and relaxing interior.

Amos Lighting + Home were approached by the architect to collaborate in the creation of a striking lighting scheme which would emphasise the architecture, materials and most importantly the client’s personality. Particular attention was crucial in spaces such as the swimming pool where the demand for decorative elegance in the lighting needed to be married with strict safety regulations, and in the cinema room where the lighting scheme needed to be visually striking, dramatically subdued for movie night but also bright enough when needed.

Each bedroom has its own theme highlighted through the careful selection of decorative lighting

Each bedroom and en-suite has its own theme highlighted through the interior design and careful selection of decorative lighting in most areas, including in a hidden doorway. The architect had designed numerous feature storage and shelf locations into which we have included bespoke concealed, dimmable LED. This not only provides localised feature lighting but integrates into the overall lighting scheme, resulting in a beautifully lit and welcoming home.

The overall effect is well considered and respectful of a client that wanted a comfortable, easy to maintain characterful home.
